Posting videos
I have some huge videos I'd like to post to one of the online sites... however, what can I use to compress it so that the size isn't so big, but I don't lose the quality either?
Anybody have any good solution?

Your other option is to register your own domain (.info through go-daddy.com are only $1 a year and they give you free bannered hosting). You could host the entire video there without losing any video quality that way, plus it wont be turned into some crappy flash animation.
If you have any questions about how the domain thing works PM me.
how big??? u can winrar it and upload it to a filehosting site then anyone who wants it can just download it of it. like http://rapidshare.com/
how long??? u can convert it to xvid and u will loose a ton of MB but vary little quality.

I should probably ask a few basic questions about the vid you want to show:
What is the video coming from?
Is this something you are recording from your camcorder/digital camera?
Or is it a file on your computer already?
-if it is already on your PC what format is it in? .avi .mov .wmv or another? (if you tell me what it opens in)
How long is the video you want to convert?
How good/bad of video quality do you want as an end result?
For example you can take a full length DVD movie (figure 4.3 GB) and shrink it down so it will fit on a CD (700MB [1GB =1000MB]) that is xvid - what white ranger was talking about
I could also take that same 4.3 GB DVD and compress it down so it was only 50 MB, it would look like hell but easily transferable.
I am currently battling the same problem at our church, they want to covert 40 min of audio to MP3, but its like the movie the more you shrink it and compress it to MP3 the greater the voice distortion. I keep telling them that the pastor sounds just fine as an FM radio station... he doesnt need to be encoded in 5.1 dolby digital for playback on everyones ipods.
And yes I am a self proclaimed 'computer nerd.' I like my computers and I like my bike. So does that make me the nerd who can get chicks?
