thats your first problem. MPGs are good quality but also huge files. you could always convert to WMV and it would shrink it immensely but you would lose some quality. whats the duration? and any reason it has to be great quality?

you dont want to host that file like that, no one would ever wait for it to dl.

I recorded it on my camcorder, but I already have it on my PC. It is a .MPG file and it is 3.5GB
MPG's are huge soI gotta agree with rasco on that one... what program are you using to capture it to your PC? Something like windows movie maker or pinnacle or cooledit? I would reccomend that you first goto AVI, as its a better format for converting to others.

How long is it?

There's a very easy to use program called QUICKTIME. Anyone ever heard of it?

You can edit, trim, cut, and then export to whatever file size you choose. The new "H.24 something-something" compressor keeps it very high quality while keeping the file size small.........and did I mention it's free?

I guess I take stuff like this for granted (being I'm on a Mac and all). All these programs are just built-in.

i was gonna say i despise quicktime. i dont even install it unless i have to watch a stupid .mov or .qt, i also was not aware you can convert and export in any format....is that the FREE version, or is it the PRO version that you have to buy? having a mac yours may have had the PRO version already installed.

i agree with telgren and rrasco. yea thats the only reson i have quicktime to watch the vids in .mov. it sucks(like RealPlayer they suck equaly) and quicktime always wants to take over my pc and wants to play all my media files. and its slow or slower than other mida players.

anyways back on topic OldFatGuy just download any program that makes Xvids and covert it to that down to 700MB then WINRAR it and then upload it to a site like i said b4 and post the like so they download it.

wat is it that u want ppl to see? i know its a homemade(rated XXX)movie right? whos the lucky girl is it hossier.

Thanks for all the replies guys... sorry I haven't checked on this thread for a couple days, I've been a little ill.

Anyways, I captured it from my camcorder using Pinnacle something or other... It's at home, but it's a program I bought a while back... it was only like $100 so nothing too fancy.

It's just some clips of me riding at Deals Gap and surrounding area. It's well over an hour long... I don't want to post the whole thing, but I would like to post one full length run from the store to the overlook plus some other parts - so maybe 20 mins or so? I did this once before and the quality was just horrible and the video screen size was tiny.

I dunno if Pinnacle will convert to another format? I don't even think I have the original movie any more from my camcorder. My HD crashed a few months ago and I just now found this copy of the movie on my work PC.

well the good news is that there are programs will convert from QuickTime to other formats... I will have to do some checking but I know SnagIt 8 will. From there you can always convert to divx or another format. Pinnacle will only do to Windows Media Video, Real Time, DVD, and AVI.

I would reccomend that you capture it again, and then import it into Pinnacle Studio, get the portions you want, save them to AVI and then have one of several free programs convert it to xvid.
