My guess is these people think they want a bike, then they realize the effort behind the hobby. Hell, I love riding, but just having to gear up, warm up the bike, pre-ride inspection, open the garage, shut it when I leave, can be a tedious routine before getting out on the road. Even going anywhere and having to suit up/unsuit in the parking lots can be PITA. Unless these people *really* want to ride, like we do, then they would not mind doing it all. I just deal with it b/c I love to ride, and its worth it to me. To some people, I can't say the same. However, I will say there have been a few days I could have ridden, but I didn't out of laziness. Just easier to jump in the cage and go to the store.
I agree with you that riding and owning a bike is alot of work. Hell the way my garage is I have to move my car just to get the bike out, but it's all worth it to me and I will not ride with out gear. There have been a few times I just took the car since it's alot less of a process.

The girl I mentiond that has the 250-she fears riding like a gun shot to the head. She has never taken it over 40MPH and even took the MSF and has her endorsment. She said when she first got it she let out of the clutch and hit the side of her truck LOL! That is when she signed up for the MSF LOL! She said she could not ride without wobbleing all over. I have to try to wobble on a bike, but I have been on dirt bikes and qaud since I was 6 years old and I am 30 now.

Rideing is not for eveyone and I think alot of people find out the hard way. Hell driveing is not for alot of people, but they still do it damn it!

I find it amazing how different guys and girls are (generally speaking). A guy sees a bike (or car, or tool, or anything cool) and decides either "I'm a guy, I know how this works" or "I'm a guy, I should act like I know how this works". But alot of girls see the same stuff and are intimidated by it and therefore are scared. Guys often get overconfident while girls can be underconfident, and I see both as equally dangerous.

Again I'm speaking generally here, I know thereare guys and girls that can fall on either side.

G3N, that is exactly the thing. The more you ride, the more fluid the actions will become as they become more muslce memory than actions that require thought. When you get to that point, then you can focus on the other 99% of your attention to avoiding the crazy cagers. This is precisely why it is recommended you start with the MSF, then practice a fair amount of operating the MC in a parking lot or backroad until you feel comfortable. No amount of practice will make you perfect when you hit the road, but it will at least give you a huge advantage over the guy who has never ridden his gsxr-1000 as he tries to pull a wheelie on the interstate.
yea ive rode about 5 times for a total of 8 hours and i know i feel 1000x's better on it now then i did the first time. i cant wait til i feel how youre talkina bout, i know i will eventually tho.
and yea i got int he first MSF class took luckily. its april 25 cant wait for that so ill be able to ride at night finally.
