Im 18 and have wanted a bike for a couple years but every time I sart to save up it seems like something comes up that costs me all my saving. S the only way I'm going o be able to afford one is to sell my car for around 2700 and buy a bike and save up over the sumer for a car. so has anybody else done this? also I work at a golf course so I dont have to worry about getting to work when it rains cuz ther closed.

What kind of golf course closes in the rain? lol.
Anyhow I would do it if you've got parents and stuff you can borrow a cage from when you need it. It's nice to have a bike but its often necessary to have a car. Given the choice though I would not be without my bike and I would make due where I need to to get by.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
I'm assuming you want a honda? Good choice!

Honestly, if you just want to ride and aren't too picky, starter bikes can be found for $1000. I bought my first bike 3 years ago, a 1989 Ninja 600r for $1000 cash, needed a battery and a front tire to get going and pass inspection. Not the hottest looking bike out there, but it was an awesome first bike and I kept it for 3 years. Sold it to another guy for his first bike for $1200 (had some new stuff and was already state inspected). One of my co workers bought a 1999 Yamaha Fzr 600 with a salvage title in pretty good condition for $1000.
I've definitely seen cbr 600 f1's and f2's around that price range as well. Older bikes tend to have cheap insurance too. Ninja 250's and 500's pop up around $1000 pretty often on craigslist as well.
