Some of y'all are going from open carry to gun free zones. Two different things.

Im sure i will get bashed to hell for this but i dont really care.

Firearm crimes commited in the usa for 2005: 400,000
Firearm crimes commited in the UK for 2005: 24,094

Now the usa does have 5x the population of the UK, but even if you take the UK numbers x5 its still nearly a 1/4 of what it is here. If you go straight to murders in the usa its 16,000 a year to the uk*s 1,100.

I was thinking of this an hour ago.
Ilove these numbers. These number reflect gang on gang related crimes as well as suicides. Suicide being the largest percentage. These numbers are skewed from the left and the grabbers to promote their agenda, never mind the fact that a large majority of those crime numbers are from people who off'd themselves, or thugs shooting each other.

Just because you have a gun to protect yourself. Can you actually fire it to kill someone? I don't think the avg person can pull the trigger. From what I understand it takes training and experiance, to actually commit to firing on someone.
Yeah, I'm sure teenaged gang bangers go through pretty extensive training. This treads gotten a little off coarse. So I'll put it back on track. It's not that I'm against open carry. I just don't think "for me", its not the way "I" would carry. Let me put it this way, If I were in public and I noticed someone else carrying openly. I know that person is armed, and I'll watch them closely. Myself, I appear unarmed, no one pays me no mind. If I have bad intentions towards the guy with the open carry I have the upper hand because I know he's armed and can plan accordingly. Just because your openly armed doesn't mean no one will try you. Cops carry as openly as it gets and people try them on a regular basis, at least around here. Maybe this makes sense?

I've talked to a few cops in different towns and they all said its a mess to deal with when someone shoots another. Even on your own property it sucks.

If you shoot someone at a place other than your own property you better be dam sure you have a good story, witnesses, and a good lawyer.

How many of those crimes were committed by conceal or open carry license holders? Kind of irrelevant in this topic, don't ya think. If you want to post some useful numbers show how many people protected themselves or their family with a firearm.

Very true. I've stated my peace on this subject but I will say this. I do exercise my 2nd ammendment right liberaly but I hope to god no one ever puts me in the situation that forces me to use deadly force. I will not hesitate to do so if it is truely needed to protect myself or my family but I hope that never happens.

Yes you do. You walk out to your truck with that extra weight on your hip and think...goddamn, I hope today is the day because I love my gun. I love carrying it. I love shooting it. I love how it makes me taller. I hope today is the day that someone threatens me, cause then they'll get what's coming to them. And I'll be the one to give it. I'll save the day and kill a mexican thief, or a black rapist, or hopefully that chinese laundry man that charged so frickin much. Yep, goddamn, I hope today is the day...wait, son of a bitch, forgot to call my parole officer...

Have any of you shoot any one in self defence?

I think teenage gangbangers, get experiance through the violent enviroment they grow up in. And there also the difference between premeditative murder and man slaughter. All those punks that shoot up schools etc. Work them selves up, and premeditate killing innocent people before hand. I seriously think the avg person like myself would freeze up the first time. I was in a gun fight. Heck I froze up in the first few fist fights I had in grade school. If it so easy then why do police constantly train shooting their gun?
