No Respect
well my American Legion post 283 sponsered a ride to help pay for a monument at a local high school.(my High School at that). a year later some teen punks thot it would be cool to destroy the monument and ripped out the bronze rifle and helmet. police were called and caught no one, but they found the rifle and helmet up the road a ways. after reading this in the local news paper, i called the fallen soldiers father and offered to repair the monument for free. he gladdly accepted and i was able to take action. for those who dont know , i run a good size steel buisness in Florida and have all the resorces to fix this, I put acouple of pics to show. I think it sucks that some kids have no idea the sacrifice that other strangers gave thier lives for your freedom. http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...j000006561.jpg , http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...j000006171.jpg , http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...j000006151.jpg , http://i944.photobucket.com/albums/a...j000006219.jpg , A soldier will always get nothing but the highest degree of respect from me , They stand on a wall so i can live free.

It's all good BAMBAM
You may enjoy this -
A BLACK MARBLE WALL
We have no marble wall to mourn our own
Who died so young and mostly far from home
A daily call to God - protect them all
And succour those who mourn and have no wall.
The honoured dead in every war are found
And memories on monuments abound
But not for these who sacrificed their all
No stone, no memory of these recall.
So we who wait to see them all again
Will keep their faces near, and hide the pain
That lingers closest on the day they died
We hold them close, and say their names with pride.
The pawns that fall as sacrifice in chess
A game of strategy that matters less
Than one man's dream of destiny and hope
Which comes to naught ; we mourn them, and we cope.
So where is there for us to say goodbye ?
A place for family and friends to cry
To leave behind a flower and memory
Of who they were, and what they could have been.

While I believe in the rehabilative powers of the uniform, I also know there are some people that should not represent my country. Or any country. Or any Cub Scout Troop

Thanks Shadow, thats a cool peice...cman9 , the school is Terry Parker high, i graduated in 90' , and yes , a drill sarge wood make them understand the code...Kuro, it would not even take a full boot camp to turn them around, and after two years you would see a soldier not a punk, thanks all for the support

I grew up a hell rat, you name it , i tried it , but damn , i would still draw the line at destroying a monument for a fallen soldier. But then again , my father was a marine and he would have pulled my arms off and beat me to death for somthing like that.
