Jersey means one thing .......crap weather in winter ......no choice really if you have to
commute .........but with a little planning you could do both

How well insured is your current car ? - then leave it unlocked .....LOL just kidding

But you could get a commuter beater car for $1500 and a halfway decent bike with
the rest

Prior to me moving from texas with 26's (when you buy them for a real good deal and sell them for more why keep em???)
Very very cool man!

I am not on that forum, but I might have to look into it. Here are a few pics of my Tahoe the day I got her.

Damn i love those NNBS Tahoes/Yukons. Im happy with mine though. Its like this forum where you first come here and you go through every page in the f4i section (even tho there are probably 40 pages and thats just a estimate). *MODS* im not endorsing another forum, just looking out for a fellow rider. Those stock wheels are a hot commodity on there. People will pay top doller for those to put on a NBS like mine. I think that one will look even more bad a$$ murdered out.....

Techgirl, just spend your money on a reliable vehicle. It will pay off. I understand the absolute want for a bike as I question whether to keep mine or just sell it. I rarely ride, but then i kick myself in the a$$ and ask myself what i was thinkin. I would be miserable without it. Motorcycles will always be there, it might take longer to get one but if its what you want you will get one.

No worries at all about talking about a tahoe forum, man. Dam, we aren't that bad are we? lol.

But yeah, I say car all the way.... bike/both if you can afford it.
For me, it's not about the "lifestyle" it's about this:
if it came down to it the bike would be the first to go. I have kids and a wife so life has taught me their well being comes first. If they are not comfortable then I cant be.
I need my jeep/car for work. I mean, I'd do what it takes to keep my bikes but if it was down to buying one bike or one car.... I'm not gonna leave my kids and wife at home 24/7 cuz I like to ride. Nor am I gonna lose my job because of snow, or bum rides to work and chit. Plus, I'm on call 24/7. If I get called in at 2am in a rainstorm with no sleep.... I want coffee and don't feel like strapping my toolbox to the bike, etc.
If I have to sell, it's gonna go bike, bike, bike, jeep, car, jeep, car. lol....

I voted car. When those 2 snowstorms hit earlier this year, my bike was buried under 6 feet of snow accumulations. Driving was damn near impossible and I know Jersey got the same treatment we did.

Fraid I vote the practical. Or get a beater of a car and a bike. But the car really isn't an optional in locations where snow like that is possible. Not unless you can walk everywhere

Yeah the front windows are tinted now. Still have the same wheels. I'll have to check it out - I haven't really looked around too much for different wheel choices. I probably have about 10K or so miles of tread left on the existing rubber and when that gets closer i'll explore my options a little closer.

If your car is falling apart i would get a car, but if it was just the clutch and you got it replaced then I wouldnt call that falling apart. Toyotas are good cars, or atleast they use to be, I had an old celica that had 200k miles on it with the original clutch when i sold it....If you take care of them they will run forever, just like hondas.

No. Givin the choice between a bike and a car for me, its a bike. No doubt. I've made that decision twice now. If you need four wheels once in a while there is usually a friend or a family member who is happy to help out.
+1

That my friend is called freezing rain. Nasty stuff.

Im also a one car one bike guy. My wife has the car and i just nut it up and do what i need to with my bike. I can get a pretty good amount of stuff in my bag so iver never complained. Plus when your all cold after a ride and step into a warm house the feeling i get is all warm and cozy inside. Like a perfect day. haha

I guess your taking shots at me? I work around hardcore riders especially harley riders and when they weather is sh!tty i see 0 bikes in the parking lot. Are you telling me you can go outside while its raining for example and tell yourself its nice enough to take the bike???? I can fully understand riding and being caught in the rain. I have no issue with that situation what so ever, but to walk out the house and chose my 954 over my truck or mazda when its raining??? I think not![/quote]

If its raining outside i say F***! Then start my bike and go to where i need. lol

I rode from shreveport, LA to Austin, TX with a massive rain front between dallas, and shreveport last march. 2.5 hours of rain and fog. Good times. lol
