I guess your taking shots at me? I work around hardcore riders especially harley riders and when they weather is sh!tty i see 0 bikes in the parking lot. Are you telling me you can go outside while its raining for example and tell yourself its nice enough to take the bike???? I can fully understand riding and being caught in the rain. I have no issue with that situation what so ever, but to walk out the house and chose my 954 over my truck or mazda when its raining??? I think not!

riding in the rain sucks, and not liking it doesnt make you a non-rider...

When its raining or snowing no, but I do know some who do regardless. Didnt mean to make it sound personal, sorry. My point is to me my bike isnt a toy,its part of my lifestyle, of who I am. The jeep would go b4 my bike would.

Prior to me moving from texas with 26's (when you buy them for a real good deal and sell them for more why keep em???)

You've got to be thinking logically here, TechGirl. If you're not going to be able to ride your bike to work (I'm gonna be sexist and assume it's because you wear heels and skirts and stuff to work?), and you're not currently in possession of a reliable car/truck, then why are you even considering a bike? With Winter just around the corner, do you really want to be forced to bum rides from a friend or boyfriend/fiance/husband all Winter long? Take your money and buy the nicest, cheapest new car you can find that you could live with being seen in driving to work or to the grocery store and then start putting some money back so you can buy a bike in the Spring.

I love riding my bike, don't get me wrong, but I want to be comfortable while riding it and riding in the rain or on snow/ice or in below-freezing temperatures, I just don't think I'd find that comfortable and that's why I drive the Jeep when the weather is unfavorable for riding the bike.

Put your down payment on a nice new car that's cheap, but reliable and start saving now to buy a bike come Springtime.

No harm, i was trying to add a smiley at the end of that question but was being to lazy to get one. I understand the lifestyle completely and 2 years ago felt the same. Although i do have another car, my truck, and bike if it came down to it the bike would be the first to go. I have kids and a wife so life has taught me their well being comes first. If they are not comfortable then I cant be.

Patches, you put my opinion in much nicer words. Economically it would be more practicle to purchase a bike, but when you are a resident of a state that doesnt have forgiving weather you have to think logical as you said. There are states in which a motorcycle can be riding yearly i would say go for it. But the east coast is not a sector of the U.S. i would say yes to.....
