Default In need of title help

First off I hope this is an okay forum to post this in, I'm in need of help pretty badly and am not sure where else to post this!

I need help figuring out how I can title my cbr, here is the back story:

I purchased a 2003 cbr 600f4i at the end of last year and I absolutely love it, but heres the issue; the person I purchased the bike from had bought it two weeks prior to selling it to me, long story short his wife was making him sell it to pay the bills, but he filled out the back of the title, so when I arrived to pick it up we each signed the bill of sale but I was left with a title that had his info. The deal was I was going to title the bike, the title would go to his address from which point he was to send it to me so I could retitle it in my name. I went to take care of it with the DMV but it turns out there was a lein on the title so I proceeded to get ahold of the guy I purchased it from whom sent me a copy of the lein release which the DMV turned away because they needed the original copy. Upon trying to get him to mail me the original we lost contact, I had no response to emails, text messages, or phone calls, so I gave up and decided to venture out and find another way to get it taken care of, but I unfortunately left for basic training soon after. Now here I am sitting in California, I am heading to my unit in two weeks and am trying to figure this situation out so I can get my bike out here in the coming months.

Is there ANYBODY that could help me figure this out? I have quite a bit of money tied up with this bike so I would have to have to replace it...

I don't know man. That's a bad circumstance. There's always the frame swap route.

I actually had plans to do that but was talked out of it since there is "an easier way." ****....

You need to contact the lien holder listed on the title and get an original lein release from them.

That doesn't help me with the fact that the title is filled out, though...I am going to try and contact the original owner and see if he can help me with filing for a lost title. Seems that may be my only way out.
