Need Opinion
ok, so my 87 cbr has been great and really fun to learn how to ride. i have been doing alot of work to this bike since it has been breaking down alot(i now know how to work on bikes)i have some things i have to do to it to get it running again, so here is my question:
should i keep this bike and make it look nice(i have a whole list of things that will make this bike off the chain), or should i sell it off, and go get a newer early 00's. i bought the bike for 1600 and can easily get 2000 for it, so i will be profitting from it as well. i have heard some rumors that honda is going to be discontinuing some parts for the 80's models so parts will become scarce and expensive. what do you guys think i should do?

You know that's a really hard thing to decide if you ask me. Sounds like you've got some blood, sweat, and tears in the bike. That would be hard to give up. But, if it's down all the time, you're not getting much riding time in either.
I guess the best of both worlds would be to keep it as a project bike and make it the way you want it, but get another bike to actually be able to ride. I don't know if that's an option or not.
If I couldn't ride because my one and only bike was down, I wouldn't be a happy camper. I didn't vote because I don't know what I'd do.

right now the carbs need to be cleaned, and it needs a new fuel cut relay. its not that its too much to fix it right now, but the fact that everytime i fix it, something else seems to go wrong. and no i am definitely not a happy camper since i have not been able to ride in two weeks now. i dont regret not having an older model, i rather enjoy it. and i do have the connections to pull this off pretty cheap.

New one for sure. I'll use this analogy. There are a lot of guys out there that buy 6 cylinder camaros because they claim they cant afford the z28. Within 3 months they drop thousands into the car to make it almost as fast as a z28. Had they saved for 3 more months they could have had the faster car, had more pocket money, and been much happier.
Now I know it's not a matter of a bigger engine here but it's a similar situation. Spend money periodically on the bike you have now which will rape your wallet over time or just take the plunge and get the "better" bike. Besides, you will have so much more peace of mind. Say you schedule a ride and your bike craps out. ****ty. Youll get better gas milage. I'm all for a new bike.
