Default Need help. Relates to motorcycles!

A road with a radius of 75.7 m is banked so that a Motorcycle can navigate the curve at a speed of 15 m/s without any friction. When a motorcycle is going 19 m/s on this curve, what minimum coefficient of static friction is needed if the Motorcycle is to navigate the curve without slipping?

By my calculations 19m/sec equates to 68.4KPH, or 42.75MPH, which isn't quick at all for a 75M radius corner. This sounds like an exam question, but I would say that much will depend on the type of tyre compound used - soft compound = greater grip, hard compound = less grip (but longer lasting) If it's really important to you, PM me and I'll get an engineering friend to work it out for you. I'd guess the weight of the bike would be important, too....as would the angle of the banking...

perhaps the equation you are looking for is

u (coeffi of static friction)= [(4pi^2)(f^2)(r)]/g

Its impossible. Been sitting here for 3 hours + a few days trying to figure this out. I got an A in Physics and the equations the teacher gave us isn't working out. Also, no one I know in the class got the answer. The answer is .16. Only fount that out because I got it wrong enough times.

Fx = fs +mgsin@ = m(v^2/r)
Fy = N - mgcos@ = 0
