lakers had a decent team before gasol, but thats all it was...a decent team...in a HIGHLY competitive west, the only thing that wouldve gotten the lakers to the playoffs without gasol is kobe playing like he is right now...he's learned (and i think it shows especially this year) how to make his teamates better (im not referring to gasol at all in this, im talking about the laker "scrubs" if you will) and if the lakers by your words had a great team before gasol, its only cuz kobe made them that way
Read what I wrote again, I said good, and even in the competitive west they had a team that would make the playoffs.

I agree with both of you Flash and Cat. I think it will be as simple as who wins the west, winner gets the mvp. Unless by some miracle both teams lose their last 4 games and finish 2-3, then who knows. For what its worth the Lakers are winning big at the end of 1 over the Hornets.

I agree that there are so many things in the way of Kobe winning, and it makes me upset. I have said it before and I will say it again, what does a player have to do? I honestly think he is the bestplayer since MJ, and some critics say he is ahead of schedule when it comes to being the best ever. Those that vote may chose to pick another player because of Kobe's history. I am stupified. One can argue that he has good players around him, but so did Jordan...so did Malone...so did Nash. They all had roll players that got the job done. I have a question to ask. Where would the Lakers be if they didn't have Kobe? They could very well be in the ninth or tenth spot in the west. Why doesn't anybody ask that question? The Lakers, without Kobe, have nobody that is a stand alone hero. F_ck me, Kobe nearly had a triple double tonight against a team that nobody in the west can beat. Again...WHAT DOES A PLAYER HAVE TO DO? If he does not win the MVP, I will have to quit life, because there is no rhyme or reason to it. Have I metioned that I live and die by this team? I still get sick when I think about them losing to the Pistons in 2004. Kobe FTW with no questions!!!

^ you know, i know, and i am pretty damn sure he knows he is the best player in the league, does he need a little gold trophy to justify it . I know what you mean by he should probably get one, and deserves it. At the same time you have to see why Paul is just as deserving, its a tough one.

imo: lebron, kobe, and cp3 are the top 3 candidates... offensively speaking they all contribute in their own ways with similar offensive outcomes in terms of assissts and points... but when u take a defensive approach to things, hands down its gotta be kobe, he's probably THE BEST defender in the league (bruce bowen might be considered the best but he's dirtyy) and kobe often takes the responsibility of guarding the other teams best player... and i'm adie hard SUNS fan!! but deep down, i believe cp3 will win it just because of the comparison to Nash's numbers when he won MVP twice. however, this league is PRO Lebron so the conspiracy theorist within me believes lebron will get it...
