Default My version of a track day

This past Saturday the Daytona Beach Police Department hosted a Police Motorcycle Safety and Skills Challenge, know to some as a rodeo. My agency allowed me and my partner to enter and compete. After four days of practice and assisting Daytona in the set up of the rodeo events the competion was on Saturday. There was agencies from across Florida as well as 2 competitors from Canada. The event raised over $12,000.00 to be donated to a local hospital. The cause was great and the event was a total success. The weather was not so good from Tuesday through Friday but Saturday was clear skies and mid 70's to possible low 80's Saturday. Here's a couple pics of me while running the course, which consisted of 4 different exercises. The goal is to complete all 4 exercises with the fastest time without knocking a cone down, putting a foot down, go out of the exercise, laying the motor down, or taping a cone. Any one of the previous will result in penality seconds added to the time with clean runs being reduced by 5 seconds.

It's nice they do an event like that. However, it's time to petition for a change of bikes. I'm not joking.

If your talking about us riding Harleys I tried to change to BMW but the BMW is almost twice the price for the lease. Honda is a straight purchase and Kawaski is not in the game anymore. The Harleys really are not that bad.........when they are actually not in the shop lol
I still can not figue out this multiple pic posting. the site says file uploaded successfully but no pics post.

The good thing about the lease is that the motorcycle is covered under warranty for the lenght of the lease either 1 or 2 years. At the end of the lease you turn the old one in and get a new one with a new warranty. The BMW is actually a lease to own and after the term of the lease you have to purchase the motorcycle for 10 or 20 % depending on the terms of the lease. All in all the Harleys really are not that bad.

Why is America (I'm guessing) the only country that uses cruisers as police bikes? I know they're probably cheaper, but when a hot rod takes off, I'd rather be on a sport than a cruiser chasing someone.

I wonder if you can use your own bike and police pimp it out?

The Harley's are kind of a joke. But it is pointless for the police to have a superfast bike. Even if they are chasing someone it's not like they can take the bike and do a pit manuver. The bikes are more for getting to places that are hard to get to. Say through a traffic jam to an accident.

I think the Yamaha FJR1300s would be awesome police bikes. 145hp, bags, large but looks like it could do some handling if needed...

Or the Honda ST13000

ANd I think the BMW R 1200s would be the best for the police

As for the Rodeos. I haven't seen one in person but seen them on Youtube. They are pretty cool. The sickest one I saw was some police in Japan. They are on 80s VFR750s (Apparently filmed in the 80s). Here it is...
