from my personal experience
high to low importance.
helmet --> gloves---> boots ----> not shorts--->jacket ---> jeans/knees ---> riding pants

I wouldnt bother with the armor, I either jacket out or do a tshirt. Check out craigslist, you can get armored jackets for 50-150. plus strapping on armor sounds like a huge inconvenience.

I buy almost all of my gear on clearance.(hint)

I also think that a not armored leather MC jacket would offer more protection in more common accidents, than strap on armor.

i dont ride around without a jacket anymore, however when its triple digits I remove the armor from my leather jacket to get more airflow(it is hella tight). please dont jump me atgatt *****.
