Went riding with a buddy today and we met up with another buddy who just bought a bike (never been riding with him before). Now I really couldn't care less what someone else rides, to each their own, but his ride is a new Harley sportster and the first words out of his mouth when we arrived was "oh, you guys ride those things. You guys should get real bikes not those toys". (he said it in a friendly manner, not confrontational) so I replied with one my favorite old quotes: "85% of all Harleys sold in the last 20 years are still on the road. ... The rest made it back home." (made up, not real stats)

He paused, taken aback and replied with "ouch". So, I said, wait also "Real motorcycles turn gasoline directly into noise, without producing any actual horsepower?" using another old favorite standby.

I was quite pleased with myself at the double header of being able to use both old quotes in a one minute period. Usually I can only sneak in one at a time. We made peace, rode on, and had a pleasant day.
