Off Topic A place for you CBR junkies to boldly go off topic. Almost anything goes.

Most probably the coolest non-motorsport EVER!

Today I got my first hands-on experience with the sport. Last saturday I went to try but it wasn`t windy enough and I didn`t get the kite to lift. Today I went back and got a few launches done. The wind was pretty gusty and got me a bit spooked a few times as the kite went up. Regardless that I`ve seen with my own eyes my kite lifting a grown man into the air I didn`t quite realize the power this things have! The pull when the kite goes up is very strong, so strong it actually got me a bit spooked for the first times. After four launches I looked back and saw that the kite had dragged me about 100 meters on my butt in the snowy lake ice. Unfortunately as I said the wind was pretty gusty and all of the times I got the kite into the air it went back down pretty fast so I still didn`t actually get to ride, but at least got some experience. It`s no joke what the label on the kite says that it is NOT a toy and when misused it can cause serious injury or death. From this experience I`d rate the kiting thing in my list of potentially hazardous things i do, well over motorcycling. I had fun, but as I said, it is a bit scary for a total newbie so I decided to not try again until next winter and without proper guidance.
