Man down.
My other co-worker deserves a lot of credit for his response at the accident. In his haste to get to Pete he dropped his own bike on the ground and ran. He took immediate action to get help on the way and see to his injuries. Other motorcyclists stopped and performed traffic control around the scene. A registered nurse came along with her medibag in hand. They had to tell a group of volunteers not to move him... All this only moments after he had watched it happen. He was shaken, still in shock, as he related the events to me. I think he handled it incredibly well.
wow hope he makes it. I don't know many 60 year olds who ride who would take a jacket off that they already had on. I dont understand that I guess he was on a Harley and had saddle bags? Hope he gets through it and learns if he even ever rides again. At that age I wouldn't
So sorry to read about all this, I hope he is alright and makes a good recovery ... it shakes you up a lot when it is someone you know and makes you really think ...sending prayers for him.

He was on a honda shadow. The bike was totalled.
He had his second surgery. They are still trying to decide if skin grafts are necessary to close the open fracture wound and road rash. He will remain in the trauma unit for at least another 2 to 3 weeks. His leg is pinned so there will be another surgery to remove those when they are no longer needed.
Overall he is on the mend physically. Mentally the gravity of the event is starting to sink in. He does not want visitors- he doesn't want his friends and coworkers to see him like this.

That really sucks Trasher, sorry about your colleague. I always try to look at the bright side of things, and at least his injuries appear to be non-life threatening, or disabling.
May he make a speedy and thorough recovery.

Update. Pete is being released from the hospital. He has made a remarkable recovery so far. Skin graft is done... We still have to make his house wheel chair accessible with a ramp. He is able to walk short distances with a walker...can't use crutches with the broken ribs. He is still a long way from returning to work.
Good news - let's hope he continues to improve at the same rate. Old bikers are tough old birds !
Be back in the saddle before you know it !
Excellent.

This is a terrible news. It's always hard for me to read about a fellow biker going down, and especially when the accident is so severe. Just gives me chills when reading all the details.
I wish the best to your friend. He will need all support he can get to make it through faster.
