Default Man down.

Yesterday a friend had a serious accident. He somehow zoned out and missed the fact that there was a van stopped at a railroad crossing in front of him. There was also a train. He drove into the back of the van at close to 60mph. He was thrown onto the road and recieved numerous injuries including a compound fracture of his lower left leg, severe road rash, and at last report had blood in and around his lungs. He removed his leather jacket on the stop before.
One of my other co-workers was with him. He watched helplessly as it happened.
All my co-workers are trained as medical first responders and one was accompanying him on the ride. He worked on Pete until the ambulance arrived.
Please help me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

Thats horrible. Atleast someone who knew what they were doing was by his side as soon as it happened. Just goes to show that you should never be fully relaxed on a bike.

Best wishes

I haven't spoken to him yet, not sure I could in his state. But he was complaining of an odd noise coming from the bike earlier in the day, maybe that distracted him...But the news is that his injuries are more severe than initial reports. He has had his first surgery to close/pin the open fracture. He has broken ribs and a crushed foot besides. Did I mention he is 60years old?

Very bad news, Tom. I'll be pulling for him, too.
