On May 20, 2011, Savage died after an automobile accident about 10 a.m. while driving on a street in Seminole, Florida, a town in the Pinellas County side of the Tampa Bay area.[115] It is suspected he may have had a heart attack, which led to his losing control of the vehicle and crashing into a tree. His wife was also in the automobile; however, she received only minor injuries. This report was later confirmed by Savage's brother, Lanny Poffo.
