Default Long Time since I've been on here.....

Haven't owned a sportbike for a long while now, after i sold my last one i waited over a year and a half to get me a new bike. Ended up with a 2011 Yamaha Stryker.

Anyway to keep with the CBR post's here I had a weird/awesome problem at the dmv this week concerning my CBR I sold back in Jan 2011.

I had to get my address changed on my license and was told I had a flag on them. Turned out the Kid i had sold it to never got it put in his name.....and had gotten a ticket for no insurance, license or plates a couple months after buying it. Why it didn't get impounded then i have no idea.

So i had to pay for his stupid fine and sign a waiver of liability on the bike.....here's the kicker.

The DMV guy informed me even after signing the waiver It still legally belongs to me so if he gets pulled over again most likely the bike will be impounded and I will be called to come pay the tow/storage and pick it up. Then he said all i would need to do is file for a lost title and register it and it's mine again.

Probably cost around 1500-2k in all if its ever impounded to cover the impound fees and registering it again. So if the kid gets pulled over again I may be getting my bike back lol, tried to get in touch with him to ask why he didn't swap the title over but he changed his number and he was from New Orleans and I'm way up in North Louisiana.

Here's the bike I had to pay the fines for....

And will probably pay all the fees for if it ever comes up as long as it still has a good motor and frame. Don't know why the kid didn't swap the title over he had everything he needed...

Welcome back to the forum man. That is really odd that he didn't get it titled. Maybe I'm naive but I'd afraid to ride around with the bike not titled to me. But hey you could get your bike back and if its in good shape that's not half bad.

Here in IL when you sell a vehicle there is a portion of the title that you tear off, have the seller and buyer sign, date and address it then the seller sends that in so things like this can't happen.

We keep a notarized bill of sale but I lost it when i moved then the seller gets the notarized title.

He should have been jailed or the bike impounded at the least for all the citations on the ticket the full ticket read: no insurance, no license, no helmet, no plates, no registration, no inspection sticker and speeding. And the cop actually let him go with a mandatory court date.

Maybe I will get a call to come and get it one day, he probably wont get it in his name this far after buying it. All the fines to get it in his name would be well over $1000 + the price of actually registering it.

Thinking about joining the CBR owners again with a bike purchase. Sold my cruiser to my dad last month and my brother is talking about getting a sport bike.... So i'm thinking of getting back on the saddle of an F4 or another F4i in the next few months. Once he buys his....which he's been talking about since I sold my F4i...I told him I would buy one within a month. So I'm hoping by this fall semester in college he will jump the gun and buy a nice bike....probably go with another F4i and show him the ropes. Never had anyone to ride with when I had any of my bikes.....that didn't drive like they had a death wish anyway

Need to lose a few pounds though lol after starting my new job 3 years ago I have packed on more #'s than i would like...probably 25 since I sold my F4i and I'm thinking getting back on a rocket would prompt me to get in the gym more often to get rid of this gut.

Then i can start doing some more of the challenges I was so fond of.
