Legislators keep grabbing for your wallet
I like to idea of making ppl with DUIs pay. They have no buisness on the road and I think that the penalty for DUI is way too soft. Mandatory jail time for anyone with a DUI is a good idea. Way too many people die in this country due to DUIs.
What are they gonna do when people just... Don't stop anymore?
It will get to a level where the risk is worth it.
"Well I'm already in big trouble, might as well try to get away. It can't get any worse."
Not my opinion, but it is a potential problem.

That's not grabbing for your wallet. If you can't ride/drive responsibly, you deserve the consequences for your actions. I live in Michigan and they are tough here according to that article, but I don't have a problem. I keep my insurance up to date, my registration up to date, never EVER drive/ride drunk, and keep my speeds appropriate (at limitor less than 10mph over depending on traffic). It's crazy how you can get around this law... SLOW DOWN. I also agree with the jailing DUI's. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time or pay for your mistakes. I couldn't pay for those mistakes so I do my best not to make them. Unbelievably simple method to avoid fines and jail.
I agree. I just think 1 year in jail for a wreckless is a bit life changing. DUI yes, absolutely jail time. But speeding ? i think the 3thousand dollar ticket is bad enough.
Traffic on my local interstates (I-81/I-64) flows at roughly 75-80mph depending on the day. The new Virginia law exempts out of state driver's from the raises fees. This i have a huge problem with, because the out of state people set the flow of traffic, and will not be a target. Complete BS is my eyes. If i drove down either interstate at 65mph i would be pretty scared to get run over.
