i dont know if i told you all, but im out here between pensacola and panama city in florida for the week. me and my dad both took the bikes. Problem is, its full of that miserable stop and go traffic. so here i am, in the middle of all of this, 115 degree heat index, daydreaming about god knows what. and when i come out of my daydream,....hey everyone in front of me is stopped! oooooh ****! luckily i was only going about 10mph, but i was maybe 6 or 7 feet from the guy in front of me's bumper. i grabbed the front brake, no, let's get this straight, i grabbed ALL the front brake rotated painfully slow up to damn near 12 o'clock and me and the bike tipped over to the left side. first off, im fine. i have a bruise on my left elbow and some scratches and scrapes on my left hand, thats about it. now the bike.... as soon as we lifted her back up she puked all of her oil which i looked her over, i cracked the alternator cover and thats about all thats keeping the bike from being ridden right now, i broke my left footpeg, and the barend on the left side, and bent the clutch lever all to hell and rashed probably half the fairings. the killer,... its nobody's fault but mine and nothing hurts more than taking a shot to your pride, lol. a million things run through your head after something like this happens where you list all of the things that you should have done differently, what if i had done this, or changed that, but in the end, it is what it is. just a reminder to everyone, please pay attention and be careful. i may be fine but it could have easily happened in much less forgiving circumstances.

Ya know this weekend I rode my bike up north while my girlfriend followed in the car. When we got to our destination I was rather exhausted - even though it was only 80 minutes of riding, it was holiday traffic on I-75. I made a comment about the traffic and she goes "It wasn't THAT bad." My response to her was "Yea in a car I would have been thinking the same thing. Everyone was moving along at 75-80 mph but with all those cars bunched so close together, I had to make sure to watch every single one of them so I didn't get run off the road." The very next day (on the way back) some jacka$$ tried changing lanes without checking his blind spot and almost wiped out the 2 cars in front of me - I don't want to be that statistic.

Just proves that you can't let your mind wander for one second... could be fatal.

 

exactly right, motorcycles especially, you are very lucky if all you get is one of these "wake up!" moments


crap..... gotta wait till wednesday for this honda place to open up to get the new alternator cover, then i can ride her again

 

between pcola and panama city, that would put you in either navarre, ft walton, destin Thats where i live in ft walton. ANd you were prolly on highway 98 ha, yea it sux i drive the **** everday welcome to hell. o btw theres no good turns, hills or anything.

 

yep, im in destin, and it happened on 98, lol.

 

o jeeez 98 in destin is horrible dude i try to avioid that place at all times on my bike, **** even in my car. Best thing if your just looking to ride, is head towards ft walton and turn right onto 85, and look for 331, thats the best road we have to ride

 

yea dude, thanks im gonna give it a shot, all im waiting for is the honda place in ft walton to open up so i can call and see if they have the side cover, that, and some oil, 10 minutes, and im back out there. oh..... and a footpeg, haha

but yea, i had no idea how bad it would be because we got in around 8pm the night before, and traffic wasnt too too bad. but my first day is when it happened, and its killing me that the only options i have is my dads bike, the truck, or sit on my bike on the trailer and make my best motorcycle noises as the girls walk by

howd the honda thing go??? the honda dealership in ft walton isnt that great IMO. I got to pensacola for my stuff. as i said welcome to hell hahah

 

well the side cover and footpeg are gonna be here in the morning around 10, ive been busy scraping the old sealant off of the side of the engine, wiping oil off of all the **** under the fairiings, and also i had to take off a few of the fairings so they fit back the right way. yea, the dealership didnt seem so great, but all i need them to do is give me some parts.
