32" is most likely only 720p. If you're gonna game on it, get 1080p.

anything higher than 3,000 to 1 is called fake color. So shoot for 3k or higher on contrast.

Unfortunately each brand has their own scale to rate there contrast ratio so you can only compare contrast ratio within each brand. I personally own a 50" Panasonic plasma and absolutely love it. Plasma typically have better overall colors and are best for motion. Burn in is almost a thing of the past anymore with plasma's. DLP are your best bang for the dollar but don't have a great maintenence rating. They have problems with there light engines going out which are roughly $700 for the part and $70 and hour to replace. My opinion is go with an LCD over DLP any day of the week. The new Samsung 550 model is a great buy but the 650 and 750 models with the motion enhancement are flat out amazing tv's.

Just a quick heads up for the light source. It is only 250 to replace mine and it takes all of 3 minutes to replace. No need to take it into have a store replace it for you. I would rather change the bulb and keep the tv for 20 plus years than have one scratch or possible a malfunction ruin the tv for life. Thats why I took the DLP Rear Pro. I chose money and the possibility of longer life over a very small clarity advantage.
