Default Knee/Shin guard questions

Anyone here use any type of knee/shin guard? I'm 6'2" and I didn't realize it when I bought them, but my pants are just too short for me. The knee pad in the pants literally rides above my knee, useless. Well of course I don't have any money for new pants right now. So I was thinking of getting one of these. They seem to have much more protection then the simple knee pads that come with pants anyways. Plus I could wear these under jeans on those days it's just too hot for my riding pants. I'm not sure how comfortable these are or if they even stay in place like they're supposed to. What are you guys' thoughts on this? Thanks!!!

These are $69

And these are only $25!

I would go with the first one too. I used to have Icon shin/knee guards. They were alright too. I guess you could look into that as well. I don't have them anymore though. I just ride with the suit no matter how hot it is.
