This will stay on your record for about the next 5-7 years, and possibly longer after that (depending on the state), but that is how it is in Fl. As far as college goes, what will show up is that you got 5 days out of school suspension for whatever reasons they were. Most colleges dont look at criminal records, and one that note, most criminal records are started in college, haha. But you should be fine. Good luck and hopefully everything works out!!

P.S. As far as fingerprinting goes, that has to be done for NCIC. It would have been done wheter you were 12 or 54. Just dont decide to steal anything else or be in places you shouldnt, because your fingerprints are now on file for ever state, and country.

I can speak from personal experience: Got caught shoplifting at JC Penny's when I was 16-17 years old. Was a straight A student and didn't have any problems with college applications - graduated (with honors) from Michigan Tech in 2000. Even when I applied for my concealed weapons permit a couple years ago, nothing was mentioned - it's only a misdemeanor.

Here's how it WILL stay with you though: In the fall of 2000 I got a DUI. While I had my paper license a buddy and I tried going to Toronto to the Hockey Hall of Fame. We got stopped at the border - guess I shouldn't have had the top DOWN on the convertible when it was only in the 50's!! Anyways, they asked why I only had a paper license, so I explained to them why, blah blah blah. We go into their office, they pull up a criminal history on me and ask "What's this Retail Fraud from 1993?" I was like "WHAT?" Yep, they dug that up and proceeded to tell me I wasn't welcome in Canada, go home.

So since then I have boycotted Labatt's and Molson beer!!!!!!

Just my story.

If you're a minor, and it wasnt a felony, I belive it is expunged from your record at 18. but it does depend on WHAT you did too. since the property was returned and nothign was technically stolen, I doubt the owner of it will press charges. just karma came back to ya.
