Back when I had a bike, lol, I never had any of that crap. I even let her sit on it once. The good thing was, she never asked about it, her friends said she was going to get killed on it, and never gave me lip about going for a ride. It was my hobby and it was left at that.
Next bike I get, just in case, I'm taking off the passenger pegs and a seat cowl is going on - just to be sure.

Damn I must be one of the luckiest bastards on this forum, because my wife couldn't be any more supportive! She is always helping me get new stuff for my bike with out any grief. All my gear she has bought for me because SAFTEY FIRST thats her motto, and a good one at that. I ride to work and home everyday I can (weather permiting) and I can usually get some time on sundays (if the kids will let me). I want to thank all of the posts for helping me relize how well I have it.Thanks everyone, and if your not married or engaged yet and just have a girlfriend, before you take the next step you need her to relize how important riding is to you or you will have problems in the relationship for a long time! Just my 2 cents

When I find a person that will let me ride, never ask questions about why I need those new 2CT tires, or that shiny new V&H pipe, or that really cool looking new helmet, I'll hang onto that person, till then I'm single, and damn happy.

My wife was so supportive that we got her a bike, too. I can spend anything I want, and wouldn't even have to tell her, but out of courtesy, I usually do. When I first wanted to get mine, I told her I was going to look at bikes. When I got home, she asked when I was getting it. Very cool chick! Part of it is, she makes her own money, and before my sales job, she actually made more money than me. She knows she has her own money to buy all the things she wants, and I am not worried about what she gets (again she will tell me about big ticket items). It is a two way street.

LOL - I AM the wife (of txn_driver to be clear) and I like to think I'm pretty cool about parts and extras. Yeah, I am the one who says, "is that a need or a want?" but it's usually just because we just moved and money isn't overflowing.I want him to be happy though and if it takes motorcycle parts to do it, well..... then so be it.

We are working on getting me a motorcycle (anybody want to just give me an f4i?) but for right now, I'm great watching/helping him with his bike!

ps - for the record, there is no breadwinner crud, I bring home exactly half of the income in the household

Its taken time but I have gotten my wife used to the idea of buying stuff for the bike. She is even planning on using part of her next bonus check to get me new tires. Add on top of that she wants me to do a RR tail swap so the bike looks better. She isnt big on riding with me, but thats all good. She wants me to be happy. The one thing she doesnt want to hear is how fast I went down the street.

My wife is the tech head in the house...has to have the latest DVD cam-corder, newest plasma, lap-top, so on...I could give a crap about all that stuff. My hobbies are my bike, and guns/reloading....geez, I got about 25 pistols and double that in rifles and shotties, and that gets costly. But, she gets her new things for the hell of it, like new leather sofas for an up-dated look, or whatever, and I get my bike parts and the latest and greatest new blaster. It's quid-pro-quo, we both have our fun stuff, and as long as we can afford it, we get what we want. Shes not to big into riding, and worries about my safety, but leaves the rest up to me cause it's my gig, not hers, and I don't judge or question why she wants a new gadget for whatever.
