Default For iPhone users - free calls & txts worldwide

There is a free application called Viber that allows you to make free phone calls and txts to other iphone users who have this app. This is a great app if you have friends and family outside of your country. When I txt Japan, it used to costs me 50 cents each txt. Now it is free and I can call them free too.

The new iOS 5 will have an iOS-wide messaging service similar to Blackberry Messenger. But this would be a good solution until then (and includes calls). There's also Skype for calls. But thanks for the recommendation.

I like this one better than Skype. You don't need username, and you will know who's calling you too.

I tried Viber a few months ago but it sucked. For 'free texting' I use whatsapp which is basically the same (although it came before Viber and doesn't allow calls, just messages) but works very well. Install it and anybody in your phone list who already has the program will show up in your contacts list. No need to add anybody manually.

Well it was probably quite a few updates ago but the reception used to suck (delay) and answering a call was a hit and miss. The feedback then was really negative. I might give it a try although I'm pretty sure I won't have anybody in my list to call.

Have you tried whatsapp?

I'm worth at least a buck fifty.
I jailbroke my phone the first day I got it (year and a half ago) and later got the app for free. After using it for a while a bought it. I think it's worth the money. Although I don't use Viber, I have it on my phone, maybe it's time to update it and give it a shot. Most people in my list have whatsapp though.

What went wrong with his phone?
