I miss my iPhone...
My phone got soaked a few months ago and since then I would get annoying errors (this accessory isn't compatible with the iPhone or whatever the message was).
Later, the audio jack started crapping out on me (although that was months later) so I wasn't able to watch Youtube videos without the audio dropping out. I also found out later that the camera had stopped working..
The sleep button also stopped working after banging it button on a table (dropped it). I have been putting the phone to sleep, resetting etc. via sbsettings.
Although my 3G is frustratingly slow for the way I use it, it still worked except for above mentioned. Two nights ago my phone froze and was stuck on the apple logo, rebooting itself over and over again. I found a way to fix it (iRecovery) but I couldn't manually reset it due to the broken sleep button (I later found another website that provided the command for resetting the phone via the program.. this was after the following happened).
I Googled a way to use the sleep button even though it was broken and some people had succeeded by pressing the top right corner between two fingers and then pressing the sleep button. This worked for me once after like 30 minutes or trying it. I then became so frustrated with it that I pressed it too hard..... the LCD crapped out and gave me a white screen.
AWESOME!
Needless to say I ordered the audio jack/sleep button, camera and LCD screen online that same night and I should get the parts in today. I might turn this into a little 'how to' if anybody is interested (at least post the Youtube videos I will use to do the fix). It's a good thing that 3G parts are cheap. Prices are much higher for the 3GS and especially the 4.
My father is shopping for an iPhone 4 online (he's an Apple ****, especially since he invested in a bunch of Apple stores) and told me he could sell me his 3GS (for next to nothing). I'm thinking about selling my 3G for a low price online (if it's fixed 100% of course) and I'll probably still get more than I will pay for the 3GS.

And yes, no phone = ****. It's like a pc without internet access. Sure you can still use it, but it's not as fun.

in my experience Apple devices are very user specific and a little over priced IMO...kinda like Sony televisions. I hate paying for a name that's placed on an inferior product, when I can get a different product that can do the same thing as well or better for much less money.
Regardless, Android is and will always be #2. Just when you think something new and great will come with an Android system, Apple makes something greater.....
On a serious note, the actually iPhone commercials were funnier than those......

weren't iPhones out like a year before Android phones?? Unless you are talking Verizon as a carrier, in which case Apple was having trouble getting their reception numbers up to par.
I'd still rather have a phone I can swap batteries myself in less than a minute.

My brother is an Android **** (just got the Google Nexus S or whatever it is called) and I must say I do like it. I like my iPhone but it's not perfect. I dislike how it won't talk to my Scala rider headset (for spoken GPS instructions, phone Bluetooth works perfectly) and yes, they are a bit pricey. If RAM mount makes a mount for the Nexus I might consider it.
For now the upgrade to my father's 3Gs makes the most sense.
