A 45-year-old Maumelle man told police on Dec. 21 he had purchased a motorcycle on the internet for $8,000 and the seller failed to deliver the bike.
The Hibiscus Cove resident said he negotiated to buy the motorcycle through CycleTrader.com, an internet trading site.
CycleTrader.com says online it is a division of Dominion Enterprises and affiliated with Cycle Trader Magazine.
The Maumelle man told police he sent $4,000 via Western on Dec. 11 and another $4,000 on Dec. 17 to a man in Rome, Italy. He said he has not heard anything from him after sending him the $8,000 and he believes it was a theft. He said attempts to contact the seller were not successful.
Attempts to contact media representatives from CycleTrader.com were also unsuccessful. A lady who answered telephone calls and asked what we had to sell, refused comment and referred the call to her “home office.” Messages left at that number were not returned.
