*&^*&% Insurance.... 2 new pics of bike...
Hey guys, hows it goin. Not too bad here, just trying to find a loophole in this whole rip-off world of stupid insurance. I am 19 years old living in South Dakota. My driving record is spotless, (had it since 16), not even as much as a verbal warning. I own a 1988 Chevy C10 pickup and my baby, the 2003 CBR 600RR. I currently pay the damn gecko 63 a month on the truck and 92-94 a month on the bike.
Today, I decided to see what all the stink about State Farm insurance. I have heard many people recommend it on here for their cheap rates and excellent service on bikes. Well, I could cut my bike insurance in half, easily. But, to do that, I would have to double my truck insurance... WTF? They want me to pay 103.somethin a month on my truck, and 43.somethin a month on the bike. Well.... there goes that idea out the window. I need to find some different insurance within the next year, as I am still on my dad's policy. I am going to be leaving in about a year and that would severely complicate splitting the bill.
Just thought I would rant a bit... a little ticked off at the "freedom" of this great democracy. The idea of it is great, but all these rules are killing me. It is rediculous that I have to pay almost 2 grand a year just in case I hit something or someone else.... WTF? My record is clean... but I am one of few at my age who drives as safe as I do (ok, so the bike is maybe so/so on safety, but its fun :P)
anyways.... sorry for the rant, thanks for reading if you did,
Chris

RE: *&^*&% Insurance.... 2 new pics of bike...
I got my insurance for my bike through State Farm for about $40 a month. Had to change my car over to them also and it went up about $20 a month. I am 24 and have a perfect driving record. I was with American Family. They said that I have to have 10 years of driving experience to even insure me and then it would be about $125 a month for my bike. The rate on my bike goes down to $18 a month when I turn 25..... Insurance companies suck!!!!

El Magico... my numbers that I posted are for liability on the truck and full coverage on the bike. As you can see, state farm is real good with bikes, but they are trying to shoot me in the foot with my truck, so Im going to stay with the damn gecko untill I find somewhere reasonable.

i would guess that the rates are due to your age -- 19 years old -- and have less to do with your record. that's the way it is. once you get some age on you, it'll drop.
for reference, i pay with State Farm:
33yo
~ $40 a month - 1995 Chevrolet S-10
~ $17 a month - 2002 CBR 600 F4i
