I've got full coverage for mine. The kicker is that I'm getting my license in Sept. so since I don't have many (any) years experience my rates are through the roof...I pay 188/month which comes out to like $2200/year. My mom can actually write insurance policies for people, but she mainly does cars and home stuff. All the companies that she does motorcycle coverage through won't cover me until I have 3 years experience. So until then, I think I just got my hands cuffed so to speak. But I do agree with regener8ed that its based on your age, and experience. I think that they pretty much bank on the fact that no experience leads = accidents.

Question...who's the guy that's getting worked on motorcycle insurance?.....

--->THIS GUY!!<---

Insurance is rated on many things. First age, second vehicle/bike, third i'd say credit score, and fourth area in which you live. My insurance is through AAA. I only have plpd on my 96 900rr and I pay 330 a year and I have a 2001 ford escape and 1997 monte carlo. Full coverage on escape and plpd on monte. I pay $1200 for six months coverage. When I just had the scape on the insurance they wanted $1800 for 6 months. It somewhat makes since but it doesn't because you'd think another vehicle on the road.............but who knows insurance is a scam. They wrip you off when your paying them for coverage and than again once an incident does happen. I live in Michigan and even the insurance companies hate the way Michigan is as far as our type of insurance goes. Almost forgot I have renters insurance too. And health insurance in case i do get in a wreck they only pay excess medical. Also have aflac accidental insurance.

hey, when they ask how much experence you have riding a motorcycle, always say you have been riding for at least 3 years. you just rode without a license.

Damn, does that work? I thought about it, but obviously didn't do anything with it.

hey, i was at my insurance office today and the guy talking to my insurance guy was majorly pissed off because his policy went up $100 just because he had a $22,000 claim. my insurance guy told him if he could find it cheaper else where then he should take it.

I just thought that was funny.

I am 24 in a week, and my bike insurance is 14 a month now, because i paid monthly on progressive, and previously had full coverage for 3 months until i found out i didnt need it, so I pretty much paid my full years premium in those 3 months, so I pay the balance of 95 over the next 8 months.

My car is about 50 a month, it used to be out the ***. I have had my license since the first day I could get it at 16, and had moto permit since i was 15, top of safety class, advanced rider class, and I have dropped all speeding tickets from my record though 2x traffic school, and 3 from going to court. GO TO COURT, it saves soooo much money if you do get tickets.

Before I was at 211 a month, what a rip. Progressive has pretty damned good rates tho. Moral of the story, drive carefully

and try to keep your credit good because most insurance companies go by your credit score.
