Default Injury recovery

Since we are hearing more people getting hurt in recent months including myself, I want to share the information on supplements that may help to heal injury. I know some people will say I am crazy to take daily supplements. But I've been a supplements junkie since 20s. And I didn't notice the good effect when I was younger. But after the injury, I am amazed how well and fast I am recovering.

My normal daily supplements included multi vitamin mineral, calcium, royal jelly (good source of vitamin B), salmon oil, vitamin C, co-q10, luten

For after surgery or any swelling, Bromelain from pineapple helps to reduce the swelling as well as elevating the area and icing. Many cosmetic surgery doctors put their clients on Bromelain after the surgery. Other things that are good for anti inflammatory are antioxidants such as vitamin C and E.

Since my injuries were fractures, I took protein powder so I don't lose too much muscle, plus believe it or not, half of the bones are compromised of protein. You don't wanna take way too much animal based protein because that will make your body too acidic. Soy protein, quinoa, lentils, almond etc are better. If you are not taking already, do vitamin C in ester C form, and 500 mg calcium. Don't over take calcium. It won't help you to heal bones

Acetyl-L Carnitine with Alpha Lipid Acid, Vitamin B, Co-Q10 helps to repair damaged nerves. If you do nothing, nerve will grow 2 mm to 5 mm per day in normal condition. If nerves are damaged, these supplements help to heal and grow better. I do noticed the difference with Acetyl-Carnitine with ALA. After I started taking it, my fingers are less stiff in the morning.

Above all, clean diet and early rehabilitation helps too. No alcohol, no smoking.

You must follow the direction of your doctor and physical therapist on how much you can exercise. But I am glad my doctor was an aggressive one and made me get rid of the walker and move the wrist early on.

Also remember to massage the incision area so it won't have scar tissue under the skin attached to the muscle. Rose Hip oil is great for healing scars or preventing scars. My 3 months old scar looks same as other lady's 2 year old scar. And keep massaging the knots in muscle to get rid of them

Anyways, take this as grain of salt and do your own researches if you are into taking supplements. I am not a professional and I am just sharing what worked for me so far and things that I believe but it does not mean that they are right for everybody.

That's great information Yum and as the body gets older it becomes even more important for quicker recovery.
I'd agree that working in conjunction with your doctor or physical therapist will maximize the benefits of any supplements, and dosage needs to be correct - overdosage in some cases (like Vit C) is fine because the body will dump what it doesn't need but for some others I think care needs to be exercised in just how much and when.
I'm just glad you're getting better so fast.

Good info Yum.

Keeping hydrated is a major factor. Its extremely easy to get behind the curve & hard to play catch-up when you're dehydrated.

Staying healthy from the start is a good building block. Glad to here the recovery is quick. After the crutches and being banged up the large muscles may need stretching as well.

Yes, I drunk so much water while I was home too. Now I am doing stretches and self massaging the area affected.
