HA ! I bet you were thinking something way different. Last week we had 16" of snow on this pass and it was closed. You gottat love the mountains. Switch backs were way dicey but for the most part great ride 240 miles. One rider washed out on the sand minor scratches no injury picked it up on we went. Colors are nearly gone up high. Anyone ever wanna venture into the mtns. come on and join us.

I posted a pic.

Only ridden in the snow once, and had sphinkter pucker for the two our so hours I was in it. Did not know how to handle it at all, just remembered all the "horror" stories ("Never ride with Dynamite in your back pack", "Never check the level of your petrol tank with a lighted match", and "never, ever ride in the snow"
I'm an Australian, (yeah we have places where it snows, but that's for the tourists or Tasmanians & Victorians)
We don't have real mountain type mountains, continent is to old and they got warn away last ice age, most of us think that around 5-10 degrees celsius (40-50) is kinda chilly, and if it gets to 30-32 degrees (90) it's your average day. Most of us have never actually seen the stuff, if fact up until then, I was about 5 the last time I saw snow.

****, I wish it only got to 5*C here! We regularily go down to -25/-30 without factoring in wind chill!

Where's that mountain anyway, freak?

Minus , That is Independence Pass High way 82 south of Aspen Colorado. Or Better know as "killer 82" and the continental divide.

Pace maker, There was no snow on the roads. Just a little sand on the switch backs up high. The temp on top was around 55 and back down in the valley 78 degrees. All in all a perfect day for a fall ride.

Another great attribute about Colorado riding is the lack of humidity average relative humidity is 12 percent. So even when its 35 out its still good riding and hardly any moisture on the road. Seems to me that humidity just chills right to the bone. Dry cold is easy to escape.

Here's a great picture heading up the pass. Ooops too big I'll down size it and post it later

Yeah, me too! Say, Freak, you must have some pretty good cold weather gear to ride in such conditions. What do you wear? It is going to get cold here soon, not like there, but I am not sure what to get and your opinion would be valued.

I hope you guys laughed as I did when I posted that.

Actually Joe rocket Ballistic series with liners and nonvented leather gloves leather pants. If funny when sun is shining here which it almost always is 45 and up is fine. The big thing is in the winter here you head down to lower elevations and in January it could be high 50s. All black just soaks up the wicked intense sun we have out here.

I do however for that beautiful January days after snowmobiling on sat. I get out my HJC leather bibs and jacket (sameones I wear snowmobiling)and my Katana and ride 100 miles. Just to make everyone go WTF. Usually I can get to ride 12 months out of the year.

Insulated leather bibs are the ticket keep your core warm everything stays warm. Riding boots to and yes my toes get cold thats when you find a place to eat!

Now snowmobiling out here thats something!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am Talking EPIC !!!! Colorado snow is the BEST!
