I don't quite buy the gas station conspiracy theory...I just attribute it to the many people who use them then throw them around. People don't take care of anything that is for public use, which is why I won't drop a deuce in 99% of public bathrooms.

I have a pair of those pressure caps with different colours which tell you if the pressure's down, but +1 theX - get a good digital meter and stick with it - most garages have inaccurate gauges on the air hoses....

yeah i'm starting to think something is wrong. it's kinda weird. I have never had this happen ever, in my car or on my bike...

maybe my gauge is getting un-calibrated from sitting. who knows...I just feel unsafe if i'm not at the perfect pressure. it's a personal thing

Like everyone else said, gas stations gauge are not reliable. Invest in a good quality pressure gauge. Still your tire can't be losing air that much per week.

I just use the tire kick method......

In all seriousness, I would get those tires checked if you are losing a pound a week.
I would also spend the money and invest in a good quality air guage. The pen style ones are good and pretty accurate, but not perfect. Go get yourself one of those air tanks that hold a good amount of air. You can periodically fill them at the station. You would be surprised at how long you can use one before you have to return to the station to fill it up. Much cheaper than an actual air compressor, but will function like one for you.
