Honda Civic?

**** I am never buying a car again that is close to 200k miles on it. **** kept dying on it and then finally the motor on it died. Only had it for like. 1.25 years. Totally not worth the money I payed for it. It was a Honda Civic.

Thanks cman, I'm actually looking to pick up one w/ 205k miles on it. Runs well but needs some trans work. Is there a forum where I can educate myself a little more or look for some used parts?

I have a friend that knows of a 1998 Honda Accord 4 door 4 cycl. Auto for sale that needs Trans. work. Right now I'm without a car and the bike is out of commission for another month or so. The price is unbeatable even if I paid the money to get a new trans.and all he told me was that the engine ran well. So.. I just wanted to get some feedback from fellow Accord owners to see what kind of issues they were running into and what they did to fix them.
Basically, long story short is if I pay for the car with that kind of mileage.. what will I be getting myself into in the near future. Good news is the car reportly hasn't been in an accident and was a highway commuting car.
Plus i'm sick of car payments and 19mpgs [:'(]

I have a 1998 Honda Accord EX V-6. It has transmission problems and the paint is peeling. The tranny will slip on me sometimes even though I got it "fixed". The older Accords tend to have tranny problems around 100k miles. The same thing happened to my uncle's '98 Accord. Our paint on our cars are deteriorating as well. I currently have about 121k miles.
Why do you ask?

id say if you knew the guy took care of it (changed oil regularly) then you shouldnt have any real problems... maybe little electrical issues or something here and there...also find out last time the timing belt and water pump was replaced. . thats about 500 bucks .
My timing belt and water pump cost me around $150 bucks.
Crash, check to see if it if a LEV or ULEV car. The sticker should be on the back drivers side window. ULEV are the California emissions vehicles.(Which is the only problems I've had)If you are getting a great deal I say go for it. You can replace the engine with a JDM for a grand and the tranny for that or less and then you are good to go for another 200k.

Once you stat replacing stuff, everything seems to start breaking.

Ok so apparently my friend knew nothing about cars and couldn't read but did an excellent job finding this for me...
The car is 1998 Honda Civic Ex 4dr with 219,344 miles. I went ahead and bought it because it was a steal. It will be at my place tomorrow night so thats a positive. Here are the only pictures I have right now (sorry for the poor quality, taken with a camera phone). Now i'm fullly a Honda Driver/Rider, I no longer have the Chevy..lol.

I have a 94 civic, with around 150k (the odometer stopped working, along with speedometer) still runs like a champ(a slow champ)
and its a good car b/c I park in the parking garage in Cincinnati and its got hit like 4 times already...nothing major just scratches, but I would be pissed if I still had a nice car(thats why I got this car)
dependable, thats what I can say about Hondas

I owned plenty of hondas in my lifetime. My last one was a 2000 Civic Si. Very quick car. Hondas aren't broken in until 100k miles. awesome running cars, and honda has the best engineering that i know of! If you have any questions or need help, dont be afraid to drop me a PM.
