Ahh makes me wish I was a youngster again in this new age of technology. There was just a story in the media where a 14yr old girl took the phone of a boy and went to the bathroom with it. She gave the phone back to the boy with pics on it of various body parts of hers. He did what every boy his age would do and showed all his friends. He got hit with every law known to sex crime and pornography. I personally think its ridiculous. This overly-PC society of ours is just insane. Maybe keep the ages in seperate brackets or something. under 12, 12-16,...16-18... There you go. Anything goes as long as it stays in your category, and as long as you are still under 18 then it still is all just minor stuff. My cousin got expelled from his school in like 7th grade for throwing a crumpled up paper ball at a kid. They also charged him with assault lol. What is going on in this society. Kids will be kids. As far as the technology. Cell phones, computers, and the internet are constantly evolving. They need to keep the laws and regulations moving with them. Instead of getting in all kinds of trouble for the pics, the kid should have just been smacked with whatever penalties they have for using the phone in class. Assuming they arent allowed to be playing with their phones. Everyone involved should have gotten suspended. That'll teach em. heheh

And when someone cracks and then starts shooting, we go "why?" I agree, the punishment doesn't fit the crime at all. Probably some DA that is trying to make a name for themselves at the expense of some kids future. Now that these kids are on the list and charged with felonies, they also have to deal with the consequencesof beinga felon. Good luck for them when trying to find a job. Buddy of mine was charged with a felony and he's stuck with bum jobs now because no one will hire him even though he was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Political correctness is KILLING this country.... it's sad

I think it's rediculous.... THEY'RE KIDS FOR CHRISTS SAKE!!! Everybody that age does stuff like that. God knows the adults now did the exact same kind of stuff when they were that age.... idiots [:@]

If it was an adult sending pics to a child, then that's a whole other ballgame, and the punishment would fit the crime. But they're all a bunch of kids here... they all **** each other anyways

Teenagers don't think like adults at all! They don't have a true sense of consequence like we do. Here is a quote I found:

Researchers recently discovered that adults think with the prefrontal cortex, the rational part of the brain; teens process information with the amygdala, the instinctual, emotional part of the brain. Teens don't think

Give horney teenagers a break!

A little too much I'm thinking. Maybe the person who made the law is compensating for something.

Criminal Punishment seems a little exessive. However. they do need to be taught a lesson about innapropriate behaviour in school.

Taking away their cellphones for the rest of the school year would be a much more appropriate punishment.

wow this didnt turn into much of a debate. its pretty much unanimous that the punishment is too harsh. the two people on the radio show were really arguing about it back and forth.

actually the woman thought the punishment was too harsh. the man saw it as fitting. he said that it could be early warning signs for future behavior.
