I'm surprised that i haven't heard the name "scorpion" come up. I've been through a fulmer, an HJC, and a bell......and i LOVE my scorpion. By far the most comfortable and quietest helmet i've worn. Not to mention that most of their helmets are $149!!!!!

I view it like designer jeans, you're paying for a name. If it passes DOT and Snell there isn't much else that is going to super protect you for more $$$$. Then there is also the comfort factor, different for different people a $700 helmet might be the most comfortable for you and the $150 helmet might be more comfortable for me.

and the $150 helmet may also be more comfortable for your wallet, or your wifes purse.

i wear an HJC CL-SP helmet, and i love it. i live in west Texas, so you can imagine how brutal the heat can be in the summer, and it has excellent ventilation. the shield also swaps out real easy, you can change it out in about 15 seconds. this is perfect for me because i ride my bike to work every day, and some days i work until after dark so it's nice having two shields that i can swap out day-to-day depending on what time of the day i'll be riding.

I've crash tested my scorpions more times than I want to remember (some were HARD hits) and I've never had so much as a headache afterwards. Its not quite as cool as some other helmets and is a little heavier but as often as I go through helmets, its the best I've found for the money. I'm on number 4 or 5 now. I've owned AGV, HJC, and a Shoei and the only thingexpensive helmetshave on the Scorpion is weight. The scorpions fit my head better than anything I've ever worn (I get a headache just thinking about my wearing that AGV) and its a lot cheaper, offering equal protection so I'll stick with them until I have a reason not to.

i wrecked doing 55mph and i was wearing my Icon mainframe helmet (same helmet as HARDCORP) and the helmet was amazing it just got a little scratch and i went to get it checked and they told me that it was still in very good condition, but im happy with the icon. I was just asking cause many ppl are telling me about they expansive *** helmets (SHOEI) that they DROP on the ground and they went to get a new one, because they said that it messes the helmet up, so i was just wondering bout them, cause i drop my helmet all the time and that thing still i good shape.

its hard to say, i have heard a drop from like 4+ feet on something hard like cement or tar can ruin a helmet, but not sure how to tell for sure.

^^^^^ they make this little thing that you put on the helmet and it will tell you if there is a airbubble or something in the helmet

I just upgraded from a kbc tk8 to the shoei x-11. What a difference. Lighter, more comfortable, doesn't bounce my head around when on the freeway, the ventalation is completely legit (every vent is functional), quieter, and it looks a lot better. Not that I've tried a lot of helmets, but I am picky with the fit. I completely agree with "Jaghunter". It's all about fit. Both helmets fit me perfect, but the shoei is in a completely different class. Granted the 2 helmets have different price points. I definately notice a huge difference by paying the extra money.

Does anyone else feel like they're head is getting batted around by the wind sometime?
