Same here about keeping the helmet on my shelf to remind me. Last year on my old 98 F3 I lowsided at 120mph on the interstate. Helmet saved my life, gloves made the slide easier too. No jacket, just two t-shirts, and for that I kick myself. Road rash on my arms, back, and hips, but no broken bones. I consider myself extremely lucky and ride quite a bit smarter now.

GT650 60kph Pulled on the front brake too hard and the front wheel stopped spinning... leads to my nice leathers getting all scratched up
GS500 10kph Other one was trying to turn on a gravel and dropped it.
CBR1000F 0kph Moved my bike forward at a fuel station to get out of the following cages way (being the nice guy I am) then forgot to make sure the side stand was still in the right spot.
