So heres the story...I parked my bike in aparking lot in seattle for the day, and when i came back there was a note on my windscreen saying "i saw someone hit and knock over your bike with there car,he got out to try and pick it up and droped it on its other side. then he took off when he stood it up... he left me with a licenseplate number and description of the man and his car. i filed a poliece report but i have no insurance on the bike so im not sure how to go about getting his information andhimor his insurance to pay up for the damages? any ideas thanks!

 

WHAT?! You don't have insurance?! Biiiiiiig mistake! You're probably going to have to pay for the damages yourself. Do you realize it's illegal to ride w/o insurance? The police didn't ask you for your insurance? Get insurance!!!! NOW!

Insurance is not required in Washington State.

Did the witness leave a phone number for you to contact him? That would be a huge help.

 

The police should help you out as they can find the guy. If he denies it have them print the bike. They probably don't care much, but if you let them know what it costs to fix the crap they may take the situation a bit more serious.

If by no insurance I think you mean collision I hope. Liability will still protect you if you damage someone else's crap.

 

What if the guy who hit your bike left that note, and wrote the place/description of another random guy in the parking lot? Haha just a random thought. That'd be messed up.

Liability against damaging someone elses stuff sure as hell is.

 

Its not required in FL either, well, unless you hit someone, then you have to pay up your self.

even if he doesn't have any insurance and it is required, he still can get money, the vehicle was not moving during the accident, you dont need insurance to park something.
