Default Guns and ammo

I just picked upa new carry pistol so I can get my permit. It's a Taurus PT111 Pro Millennium 9mm in SS with a 3 1/4" barrel. In the manual it says to shoot 124gr ammo in it. I have some 115gr CCI Blazer 9mm rounds already. I'm no gunsmith, so here's my question: Will shooting 115gr as opposed to 124gr make a difference? Will it damage my gun?
I let my father-in-law borrow my camera, so I can't post pix yet, but I will when I get it back (if anyone's interested in seeing it).

You will have no problems shooting 115 grain.

As long as you are shooting factory spec ammo (almost anything factory out of a new box)it will not damage the pistol. I'd watch out for +P ammo, as that seems to be really popular right now. The recommended ammo is probably what they tested out of the factory and got the best results with as far as accuracy and reliability. For practice, you might want to use the wal-mart value pack of 100 as the stuff is dirt cheap, but for carry, maybe go with some speer lawman or hyra-shocks. Just test different loads and see what you shoot best and that your pistol likes also. You can use any 9mm ammo and be fine, just the +P ammo is a little hotter and some pistols are rated for it and others not. So, in short, find ammo that you like and have at it. Congrats on the new blaster though.

Thanks for the quick replies! Ya, I haven't been shooting the +p. It's no Glock or H&K or anything, but still a decent gun. It's fun to shoot on the range... just hope I never really have to use it...

+1, its fine, but watch out for steel case compared to the brass, they are very dirty.

Thelittle Smithy that I bought will shoot +P, but I don't really want to shoot a hot loadthrough such ashort barrel. I am actually shooting wad cutters...like 130(ish) grain. Pretty light stuff.

I have the MilPro PT145 and love it. The cheap ammo is ok for target practice, but not very accurate and extremely dirty. Clean it after every use of the cheap stuff. It will not harm your gun though. My carry ammo is cor-bon 230gr.+P and it shoots well. Only one jam out of about400 rounds of it so far (and I clean it religeously). I like shooting my XD9 4"alot better but it is just too big to conceal comfortably.

I have been suprised to see just how many riderscarry! Good luck with the test, it's a piece of cake as long as you pay attention. The first few months I had my ccw, I dont think my gun left my hip unless I was sleeping. After that, the excitement slowly wore off and now I just carry when I ride and when I am most likely to encountera possible situation or out with my family. My wife was dead-set against having a gun in the house, now almost a year later, the XD is "HER" gun. Heehee

Now if I could just find a way to conceal my modified SKS.........haha.
