The motorcycling world in central Alberta has lost a valued member. My friend and fellow instructor, Max Moffat passed away after his battle with cancer at the age of 59. He was one of the co-founders of Alberta Motorcycle Training.

Max touched the lives of thousands of riders through the Alberta Safety Council, Canada Safety Council, Alberta Motor Association Motorcycle Training course, and Alberta Motorcycle Training. It was my pleasure to have shared the time instructing and riding with him. The information and experience he had to share has helped many former students keep the rubber side down and the shiny up.

Max you will be missed. I hope the road ahead is smooth and twisty. RIP.

Max unselfishly contributed something back into motorcycling...and I see his success everywhere through his students.

The last time I saw Max was by chance...We both stopped for a meal and coffee at Tim Hortons this summer in a town 20 miles from the city we live in. We had a great conversation, he invited me to come to the course and start instructing again... The fact that he was ill never came up. We both rode off knowing that when we bumped into each other again the conversation would pick up just where it left off...

I knew the man since 1986. We taught side by side for six years.
I filmed his daughters wedding for him...

He was a good man and I wanted to let others know that around here his contributions will be sorely missed. His passing leaves a huge hole in our community.

There is a special place for people who care about others and devote their life to teaching others how to be safe. Im sure there is a nice twisty waiting for him.

Sounds like the kind of guy who offsets the bad stereotypes in our bike community. The kind of guy you can never have too many of... sounds like he had the opportunity to rub off on a lot of people through his work.
