RE: Governator went motorcycling without a license
According to the article that I read, the CHP said that he technically didn't have to have an endorsement to ride with a sidecar, as he was at the time of the accident. Still, should a debate be started about whether the endorsement is necessary? I'll start--I don't think that an endorsement is completely necessary. HOWEVER, since there's no way to single out certain people, (Ahnold has been riding since long before I was born--who am I to question his skills?), the only way for the government to ensure safety for all is to mandate it for all motorcycle riders.
You know, you could take it a step further... the MSF course has proven to be a very valuable tool for increasing safety... should that be required too? Hey wait, how about the government pay to send me to California Superbike School? I'll go for that one! [8D]

I'll second the mandatory paid for bike school.... I'll take one from Mid-Ohio.
This reminds me of a funny story....
Several years back... when I worked EMS we witnessed a police dispute. I WV state trooper received a parking ticket from a city cop. The trooper just stopped to pick up a paper or something like that. When he turned around... the little meter maid bitch guy was writing him a ticket. He went over to introduce himself and let him know he had just stopped for a second to grab a paper. The meter maid bitch still wrote the ticket after knowing he was a trooper. A little pissed off... the trooper looked up the information on him so he could get acquainted with his newfound friend. Well.... he noticed his license didn't have any endorsements. The meter maids drive around in the little three wheeled gold cart type vehicles... He drove through town the next few days until he found the guy working.... stopped him in his little meter maid bitch mobile and wrote him a ticket for swerving and operating a motorcycle/trike without a license. That takes *****....

special treatment for special people
i got pulled over way back when i didn't have my endorsement but i had my permit. the only differences in laws here in indiana state that anyone with a permit must ride with a helmet (no helmet law for endorsement), no passengers, and cannot ride after dark. i got pulled over on my way home from work at about 9:30pm. the official sunset was 8:42 on that day. i got a ticket. total bs.
