My co-worker is big into mountain bikes and she said that she has both brands you listed as well as a Schwinn and all three have been good. Her last addition was the TREK and she loves it. Sounds 1ike they are all good quality but she mentioned that you will expect only an entry level bike in that price range. And she also said that your best bet for a good deal will be at the end of the riding season (end of August) when dealers are cleaning out their stock.

Yikes. Pedal power. Nah, thanks though. Push-button start, for me.

A friend of mine got this SPECIALIZED Globe Centrum a week ago. He bought it second hand for $5xx. You may find really good bikes for cheaper if you are interested in buying second hand.

i really lik.e that green specialized..Its crazy how good this is for you, after sitting around for 2 months recovering from surgery i put on some weight..after riding 6 miles a day for the past 2 weeks i have lost over 20lbs. now im about 6'1" and 195. still more to go, but within a month i should be back to normal

depending on how you are going to be riding, i would look at a more of a road bike. but Gary fisher is great, i have had 2, so is trek and specialized. definately look for second hand, craigslist is pretty good, and most bike shops take trade ins so you can find some there. just cause the paint is a little F'd up doesn't mean its not a fully functional bike
