I found out long before I purchased my bike that the ones who claim to be the best and fastest and can take off from a light are the ones who are dead slow or look really uglyin the turns. At 20 these guys don't even know how to safely operate a car in a slide and they think they know everything about bikes. I'm not saying that none are good riders, but on average they have a lot to learn.

Normally I'd say you got suckered and let your ego get the best of you, but these kids learned a lesson at their own expense. Too bad they'll never go to their freinds and tell them how an old man blew their fairings off. LOL.

Being 32 myself, I know where you are coming from. It's kinda like watching these little youngsters with women. They try real hard to act like they know what they are doing....but in reality, not so much.

One day they'll look back the same way and think, damn....I really was kinda dumb whenI was younger. It happens to everyone. Congrats for stepping up and being a good mentor!

we're not all that bad
I've got a couple good friends that race that are in their 50's+ and still fast as hell and I'll gladly admit I have plenty to learn from them still

I don't really think age is what makes these guys asses, I know plenty of older riders that have the same "your not good enough to ride with me" attitude

and honestly quite often older riders make the same kind of assumption about younger riders, apparently we're all just stupid kids that do 150 down the interstate while flipping off old ladies

I'm 20 and own a sportbike so I must be a squid, right? not quite

permit my perspective,

Maybe it is a respect thing. I think most young guys know they will be up to no good on a ride. So when you rolled up and showed your "age", theyhesitated because they would have felt a little guilty aboutletting loosewith an "elder" watching them. So they would have straightened up and prolly wouldn't have enjoyed the ride. For them, enjoying the ride polly meant taking risks, so to ride with some common sense would have been a drag for them. But they know that, and outta respect for you, they would have held up a little.

Kinda of like cussing or talking about sex around your parents. You do it, you know they do it or did it, so it shouldn't be a problem. But when they are around, you refrain from going there. Why, outta respect for your parents, even though your existence on this earth was a result of one or both.

So they looked at you and saw their folks. Sucks, but they really didn't want to act retarded around the folks.

all i know is there is this 55+ guy that rides at thunder hill on a gixer 1k, and he pretty much puts everyone to shame, same to be said there is a 15 yr old girl on a kawi 650 that will out run just about everyone on the turns, than the straight away comes and she is swallowed by 600s 750s and 1000s, than she has to pass them all on the truns again haha. after i saw that old man one day do a wheelie whilie turning down a steep blind hill, i will never again laugh when i see an old "geezer" on a sport bike.
