There's very little that I've bought in my life that ever actually brought me happiness.
- My computer is one. I wouldn't be doing things I love now, if I hadn't bought one back in 2000
- My F2...not because it's a thing, but the fact that I achieved a childhood dream. I don't need to have an RR. I might buy one anyway, but I really don't think it will give me significantly more satisfaction than my F2. The F2, fills my need. Plus, I have less stressed when it's thrashed up. I care about the safety, less so on the cosmetic. Maybe an upgrade to an F4i would be nice, but it's not a requirement, and the my happiness wouldn't increase significantly from what I currently own.
Though I do have a nice, house, it's only a house. I'd be just as happy (and maybe happier) if it were smaller (less to clean, cost less to buy, cost less to heat/cool). BUT, it's my neighbor's who are amongst my best of friends that make living where I live so worthwhile. I don't want to ever be judged because of what I live in, but for who I am. Home is where I am (or where the family is, if I had one).
I have a nice TV...I saved up for it (well, sold stock), but it's not needed. I does make watching movies more enjoyable, but I don't need to have the biggest baddest model.
A fancy car is not needed for me. It takes a lot of money that I could have easily placed into other things that would have provided me more long term satisfaction. I mean, seriously, I wouldn't mind a Porsche...but why spend the extra money, just to spend even more money on gas and insurance.
I find that I get a greater satisfaction out of life when I help someone else. When I make someone's life better, I feel better. The right relationship with the right person would make me happy and that really doesn't cost money either.

The attitude you promote and the feelings that you obviously believe are sweet and very nice to hear..
but the reality is.... ( and this would normally take pages to explain ) so I will keep it brief..
Outwardly I am a very positive guy, as even my posts project ....
the reality is that I do not like what I see in this world.
I am generally a funny guy, that trys to make all around me happy and make them laugh.
the reality is that most do not laugh with me, but are very quick to laugh back at me ....
I am happy to live with what I have....
the reality is that I know I have too much and many have to little.
I am an environmental Natzi (my misses tagged me that) I do more than most to help this world.
the reality is that I like most, do not do enough to have much effect ....
I have a love for nature, the shear beauty, the power, of all the things that make this world so great.
the reality is that it is screwed up, heading in the wrong direction and by us ....
I care for people, even the ones that I know not very well at all.
the reality is that my caring falls on deaf ears and blinded eyes most of the time ....
While people like you and me feel seemingly fulfilled and content .
the reality is that most on our beautiful planet are not ....
While in the developed western world we eat to our hearts content year after year.
the reality is that over half the planets population starve each day ....
The planet itself is a great miracle.
the reality is that we have turned it into a nightmare in most countries ....
I would like to think we can just talk it up as being all temporary problems.
the reality is that we will not leave this place better than it was for our kids ....

These and many more things that make up the reality of this world today, may not sound nice, nor can be read without a heavy heart, but they are the reality...
This is why I do hate the real world as we have to deal with it today in reality....

I live in it happily
I explore it with all my heart mind and soul
I will love it till death
I try to be a good person
I encourage others to do the same
but the reality is that all of those things that I do, will in the end have little effect, except on the things and the people that are close to .... ME
This may be enough of an effort by one man .
but the reality is, I do not think it is and that it all will have too little effect to late...

I hear everything you say above Steve, truly I do!! ..but, the reality is we cant save everyone ..all we can do is try our best to be good ourselves and lead decent lives ... funnily I didnt take anything you said as negative at all, rather I understand the disillusioned idealist in you .. even though you say you or I cant make a difference (I actually believe we can in a small way, lots of small ways make up a bigger way) ..its still no reason to give up and say stuff it ..nothing I can do ..imagine if the whole populace did that ... then hope truly dies ... just because the world is the way of me, me, ME, doesnt mean we have to be that way too ... we can simply accept that is the way of many people without being corrupted by it ourselves :-)

Gee, I do and always have loved forums .... but forums are one of my pet hates as far as the way most only use them and do not add to them ( participate )
Look at our CBR forum 30,000 members .. a few hundred posters .. and only some regular posters.. that annoys me a bit... but it is the reality of forums

We have a real responsibility to the thousands of people that only come to read...
I try to be as accurate and honest as I can ..yer sometimes to the point of being a tad **** and pissing people off ...but this worries me not
I have been banned in the past years from quite a few business oriented forums ..
( yer I know every one can see why :-)
I have been banned for promoting the bigger picture , a broarder view point than most can either understand let alone believe...
