A Game of Thrones is HBO's most recent drama series, which was nominated for 13 Emmys. It is based on the book A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R. R. Martin. Now, I usually do not watch T.V. and I dislike Korean and American dramas, but the reviews this T.V. show has received and the interest it has built up over these past few months made me curious. I watched the first episode and I was hooked; later I read all the books. Just thought I would share some info for those who have never watched it, and to discuss with those who have.

The actors are superb, the plot is unlike anything else, the characters are intriguing, and the overall production is top notch. I highly recommend it, just do not watch with your children as it is extremely adult.

I've read all the books up til the current one (5th) and am reading it now.

The books are superb and the show is really well done too actually. I think it does the book justice

I had a hard time reading A Feast for Crows. GRRM screwed up the last two books. The first three were fantastic.

A Dance with Dragons is alright. I am kinda pissed that his last two books go nowhere and include pointless POVs that do nothing for the main story. And, at GRRM's current rate, I doubt that he will complete his masterpiece.

@ everyone:

Who is your favorite character? I like Tyrion and Jaime. I dislike Cersei and Sansa.

I like the Wolves the best hahah. I guess Snow, he's likable enough.

Arya was cool - but her story with the priests or whatever they were, the monks? is a little strange.

Tyrion and the Hound are my other two favorites. I like Bron too.

I dislike Sansa as well. And Catalyn Stark isn't my favorite either.

I too have read all the books. I really enjoy grrm's writing style. If I had to pick my favorite character it would be a toss up between Tyrion and Jon Snow. I dislike. The show is one of my favorites. I was a little apprehensive about it when I first started watching it. Most television shows based on books butcher the plot but this is not the case here. BTW google books on DROID x2 rocks. I have almost any nook imaginable at my finger tips.

oh yeah Cat is a pain. tired of her whining and complaining and always doubting. well cant really blame her after losing so much...but still reminds me of my nagging and crying ex.

Sansa...god willing GRRM sends her off to a fking island with her fairy tale prince, and the darling little prince turns into Joffrey reborn she does not understand what she truly wants because she can never look beyond a person's appearance.

I like how GRRM made every character tainted, they are not flawless. Granted, there are some characters with more flaws than others. Still, it is not easy to find a character "likeable" due to how GRRM created them. Take for example Jaime, not someone you would think you could warm up to after his run in with Bran Stark. But later you find that he is a man of his word and loyal to those he loves.

Tyrion is such a complex character that I do not know how to describe him. A realist and unabashed to say and do what he wants. Highly intelligent, crude, just, and chivalrous. No matter how many times he is humiliated and served unjustly, he bounces back and carries on. Everyone treats him like **** but he embraces it and does not let it get to his head. Well, until that one part where he finally cannot take it any longer :P
