My bike is under 400 lbs. Tons of lights do not recognise me as a vehicle.
And then on top of it certain reds have automatic cameras that notice the movement not the weight when a red is up.
The law despises us.
Good thing we are not required to have plates in the front.
The other day i tried to navigate some intersections without breaking the law. I ended up going like 3 city blocks before i was able to make the turn legally...

 

For your info, it's never done by weight. There is a loop of wire that detects changes in a field caused by the metal in a vehicle. I hit the started to trip them.

 

Another thing you can do is glue a neodymium magnet near the bottom of your bike somewhere, they usually disrupt the field better and you tend to get more greens.

 

OOO That works? I thought with the older lights there was weight plates under the assphalt just behind the front line.

Well if ya look near the light you'll see a rectangle of pavement that looks like it was laid a little differently. And sometimes it just looks more like straight cuts in the pavement.

 

yup put one of those "signal wizards' on your bike. it works great. i'd say 80% of all lights see me now up from about 20% FAR worth the 19.99 price tag.

 

I know a guy that glued one of the rare earth magnets to his boot and just touches near that line in the pavement and it's strong enough to trip it.

 

i need to do something about that too, i remember there was one time i took the bike to work when i was to be in at 7am... it was like 645am i came to a light at a jughandle that i need to take to get to work(maybe 1/8 mi from my job), there were no other cars around and i sat at the light for a while then decided to run it after CAREFULLY checking both ways, i punched in at work at 7:05
