Default First speeding ticket

Well i got my first speeding ticket tonight. The cop was really cool i was doing 70ish in a 55. My speedo is way off so im not positive how fast i was going. The cop wrote the ticket for 9 over ticket is 131 bucks. This was my first ticket and my first traffic offense period so im wondering if i have anything to worry about if i pay the ticket on time and take the traffic school will i get any points on my license?

Thanks guys

My first ticket was for an improper license... I was 14 and riding an XL250 on a road under construction. They towed the bike. I just had an arguement with my father and was blowing off steam. It made a bad day worse.
I had to pay the ticket and the impound/tow bill.
My first speeding ticket wasn't until four years later that was 146km/h in a 110 zone on my Virago750 heading into Banff National Park. I think it was $171. Shortly after that ticket I traded it in for a shiny new 1987 Honda Hurricane 600.

Depends on where you live. Usually traffic court automatically offers the driving school option if it applies. Or does where i've lived.

Not sure about te traffic court thing. The cop said I wouldn't have to go to court. He said to just pay the fine and move on but if I can I'm Finns take the traffic school stuff so I don't get any points on my license.

As Kuroshio said, probably depends on where you live. 3 months ago I got pulled for 90 in a 70mph area. Trooper was cool though, gave me a citation for 79 in a 70, saving me over $100! My fine was about the same as yours. On the back of the ticket it said I could take the Driver Improvement School and no points would be awarded. That was here in Florida, your state may be different. Call the clerk of the court or whatever the equivalent is in your state, they'd be glad to tell you.

you can usually go to court plea not quilty talk to the D.A. for the faulty speedo and they usually drop the ticket to a non moving violation which usually means that you pay a little more money but you get no points and your insurance wont go up unless they drop the ticket all together but sometimes that means that you actually have to go get your speedo fixed in a certain amount of time and have proof that it was off and that it is now corrected then go back to court to get the ticket dropped.

I think I'll just pay it and see what happens. Oh I also live in Florida. I'll spy the ticket next week and hope my insurance doesn't go up much.
