congrats, i did the same thing, we have a highschool across the street so ijust went there everyday it was over 30 degrees lol. dont know how but i never got bored.
id def try to get enough $ together to get in the MSF course, i felt pretty confident and was somewhat of a natural having rode other bikes before but it still helped me extremely. as far as where/how to look going through corners, accelerationg/deceleration through corners (which help me prevent at least a few low slides in the last 3 years), escape paths, identifying the most likely threat, overall bike control. ours is like $75 but its def worth it
good luck man, congrats again

The way I prepare for the street is to play the "worst scenerio" game. As you cruise down the road, look for potential problems, anticipate the obstacle's path and figure out what/where you're going go to to avoid it.
Keep in mind that ultimately, no matter who broke the rules, you screwed up by not anticipating the accident.

I like to say, "assume they don't see you. And assume that if they do see you, they'll try to hit you.
And even though the traffic laws may be in your favor, the laws of physics won't be. So it's your responsibility to safeguard yourself.
