Got my license, nothing like whipping it out and showing it to the ladies. eh? eh?

But in all seriousness, it took a lot of convincing to have my dad allow me to take the course and eventually get a motorcycle, so I carry it proudly.

It depends - when I took my driver's test I got off the bike and showed the woman that my bike phsycally would not turn between the cones they were asking me to navigate.

She ended up passing me anyways....

I rode for a while with no permit, for a while with no license, and then finally got my license....

I also took the MSF class and received a waiver that automatically gave me my motorcycle license when taken to the DMV. Best way for any person starting out with motorcycles, IMO. I did all of that before I ever touched a bike of my own (or any bike for that matter). Good way to not give yourself bad habits.
